Birding Engikaret
Tour Overview
The Engikaret Lark Plains, which are close to Arusha, are a great place to go to observe birds. This huge, open area is the last place where the critically endangered Beesley's Lark, one of the rarest birds in the world, can live. With only a few dozen species thought to be alive, seeing them here is both exciting and very important for birders.
The plains are home to many other dry-country birds besides Beesley's Lark. These include the Short-tailed, Foxy, Sentinel, and Somali Short-toed (Athi) Larks. This place is not only a great place to see birds, but it also gives you an unforgettable look at Tanzania's wild beauty, with its wide horizons and Maasai pastoral backdrop.
